Scouting needs to be reimagined in order to continue to evolve and move forward. For over 50 years, young women have thrived in Sea Scouts, Venturing, and Exploring. These young women represent the best of Scouting. We now can bring new opportunities to young women in Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA.
On July 28, 2022, in a small ceremony at the Oakland City Hall, Apara Sai Jell was recognized by the Golden Gate Area Council as the 2022 National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year awardee.
The 2022 Adams awards, which include 16 territorial winners and a national winner selected from one those territorial winners, recognize outstanding Eagle projects completed by young people who earned the Eagle Scout rank in 2021.
Golden Gate Area Eagle Scout recognized as the National Service Territory 3 Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Awardee. Apara, a member of the 2021 Eagle Scout Class and Troop 36G, will now compete against other NST winners for the national project for the year.
Kathryn Block earned her Eagle at the age of 12 from troop 514 of Discovery Bay. A passion for horses naturally leads to her favorite merit badge being Horsemanship. Kathryn is also joined in the Eagle’s nest by her brother.
Featured prominently are six female Eagle Scouts from our own Golden Gate Area Council. We appreciate the recognition Diablo Magazine has afforded them and to all those who are involved in the Scouting program.
Riley Lee is a member of the Golden Gates Area Council’s Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts. She earned her Eagle at the age of 14 from Troop 514G of Discovery Bay. Riley is the second Eagle In her family, as her brother earned his Eagle in 2018. Away from scouting, she is an avid diver and competes for the St. Mary’s High School Varsity team and Delta Valley Diving Club.
Patrick Jaime and Melody Fewx were awarded the Western Region Venturing Leadership Award for 2021, during a Western Region Venturing Officers’ Association Open House.
