Patrick Jaime

Patrick earned his Eagle at the age of 13, earned 120 merit badges before turning 18, along with numerous other awards as a Venturer. He is currently studying criminal justice at California Coast University, in pursuit of a career in law enforcement. Patrick continues to give back to Scouting as an active member of the Muir District Operating Committee and the Golden Gate Area Council’s Commissioner Corps.

Melody Fewx

This week’s spotlight features another member of the inaugural female class, Melody Fewx. Melody attended James Logan High School, where she earned eight varsity letters and was named Summa Cum Laude. She is now studying selective Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology at UC Riverside. Melody has not only earned the highest rank in Scouting BSA, but has also achieved the highest rank in Venturing, the Summit Rank.

At the 2021 GGAC Council Volunteer Recognition Event six eagles were recognized with Outstanding Eagle Scout awards. In addition, Adithya Palle won the Adams Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year award.

Joe Barton and Son

Joe Barton

Joe Barton is the Golden Gate Area Council’s Director of Support Service. Joe earned his Eagle in 1999 from Troop 975 in Livermore, Calif. He spent many summers working on staff at Camp Royaneh, and later became a professional in the San Francisco Bay Area Council. Scouting once again came calling, Joe volunteers in his son’s pack, 915, as Committee Chair.

Lauren Swenson-Lennox is a member of the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts. She earned her Eagle from Troop 998G of Pleasanton, Calif. She is currently a student at Foothill High School and plans on studying sociology upon graduation.

Calvin Masuda earned his Eagle in 1973 and was recognized as an Outstanding Eagle Scout in 2011. He spent most of his time in the Twin Valley district, working with Pack 916, Troop 941, and multiple Crews.

Deadlines extended for Eagle Scouts to apply for NESA scholarships

The deadline for this year’s scholarships has been extended to Feb. 12 to allow the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts the opportunity to apply. Young women who have earned the Eagle Scout Award from Oct. 1, 2020, to Feb. 8, 2021, will be the inaugural group and have their Eagle Scout credentials dated Feb. 8, 2021.
