Michael Miller grew up in Oregon, earning his Eagle with Troop 14 of the Crater Lake Council. A Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, Michael served as the Section Chief for W-1A (State of Oregon). Over the years, he has volunteered in many scouting rules, including as Scoutmaster for his now Eagle Scout son. Today Micahel continues to serve the Golden Gate Area Council as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Piper Dolnick earned her Eagle with Troop 514G of Discovery Bay. Now a resident of Washington State, she has plans to study Genetic Biology. Today, Piper continues as an active member of Scouts BSA and the Order of the Arrow.
Distinguished Eagle Scout Rick Pickering is currently the CEO of the California Exposition and State Fair and lives near Sacramento. He earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 89 of Pittsburg and is a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. In 2010 the Boy Scouts of America recognized him with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. Rick served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 941 of Pleasanton, where all three of his sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Isabelle Guerra is a member of the Inaugural Class for Female Eagle Scouts. Isabelle has enjoyed the scouting experience as a Girl Scout, Venturer and Scouts BSA and still found time to excel in her academics. She continues to leverage the skills she learned in scouting and applies them to her everyday life. Isabelle is currently studying English at Solano Community College, with plans to study pre-law at a UC in the future.
Vanessa is an Inaugural Female Eagle Scout out of Troop 7062G of the Silverado District. She is a recipient of the Meritorious Action Award, Sangha Award, and STEM Nova Award – Up and Away. Vanessa has visited both Northern Tier and Sea Base and plans to double major in math and physics upon graduation from high school. Her scouting trail contiues as an Assistant Scoutmaster and a Venturer.
Patrick earned his Eagle at the age of 13, earned 120 merit badges before turning 18, along with numerous other awards as a Venturer. He is currently studying criminal justice at California Coast University, in pursuit of a career in law enforcement. Patrick continues to give back to Scouting as an active member of the Muir District Operating Committee and the Golden Gate Area Council’s Commissioner Corps.
This week’s spotlight features another member of the inaugural female class, Melody Fewx. Melody attended James Logan High School, where she earned eight varsity letters and was named Summa Cum Laude. She is now studying selective Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology at UC Riverside. Melody has not only earned the highest rank in Scouting BSA, but has also achieved the highest rank in Venturing, the Summit Rank.
Calvin Masuda earned his Eagle in 1973 and was recognized as an Outstanding Eagle Scout in 2011. He spent most of his time in the Twin Valley district, working with Pack 916, Troop 941, and multiple Crews.
